Teen Suicide: If You Wait for Signs of a Problem - You May Be Too Late

Blindsided by her 14-year-old daughter’s suicide attempt in 1995, Jackie entered a world of depression, addiction, medical mysteries, and deadly silences.

TEDx speaker, Radio Show Host, International Best-selling Author, Mindset Magician, co-founder, and Director of the Teen Suicide Prevention Society, Jackie Simmons is best known for her mission to “Make teen suicide a thing of the past.”

Jackie Simmons

The journey into the world of mental health services and cultural taboos left Jackie feeling lost and alone.

“I’m fine” on the outside, Jackie hid her deep, psychic wounds behind a façade of frantic entrepreneurial activity.

Then on August 3, 2019, Jackie’s now 37-year-old daughter, broke the silence. Jackie calls August 3, the day her “purpose tapped her on the shoulder.”

For Jackie Simmons, the leap from “Sales Trainer” and “Stress Management Consultant” to “Emotional Resilience Training” and “Mindset Mastery” was short in linear time and long in unwinding the limiting beliefs that held her back and kept her playing small.

Along the way, Jackie explored many dead ends and followed several false prophets. Jackie also worked with amazing creators of transformative training and technologies.

During her interview, she shares her story but more importantly, what you can do to help stop the pandemic of teen suicide.

The beginnings of Jackie’s journey to the TEDx stage were captured in the eBook Why Not Workbook: Breaking the Silence on Teen Suicide.

Be prepared, this book will wrap you up in a blanket of emotions.

This book is not for you to read . . . this book is for you to share . . .

In the next 24 hours, more than 3,000 American teens will attempt to take their own lives.

This means that every day, over 6,000 parents start to live the guilt nightmare that accompanies a suicide attempt. This means that every day, over 20,000 grandparents, aunts, uncles, brothers, and sisters get sucked into the guilt nightmare. This means that every day, 100s of 1,000s of classmates, teachers, boyfriends, girlfriends, and neighbors also get sucked into the guilt nightmare. All probably just as blind-sided by it as we were. Inside this book, you'll find stories of heartache and stories of triumph. These stories are real and raw. We know that when it comes to suicide, silence is deadly, so each story is designed to help you break the silence and start a conversation.

From this humble book, a movement and a non-profit were born. Please share this book. Talk about it, share your stories, and share a hug. You can learn more ways to stop teen suicide by watching: "Have 'The Talk' to Stop Teen Suicide" on the TEDx YouTube channel, at the Teen Suicide Prevention Society, and at The Suicide Prevention Show summit.

Learn more, break the silence, and have the talk.

The names and identities of all those involved have been absolutely omitted and will never see the light of day unless the person or persons involved in such acts wish to come forth on their own.

These stories have been told by those who were there or possibly second-hand. Judge for yourself what is true and what is quite possibly an extreme exaggeration. Some of the tellings of these stories have been spiced up and a certain amount of dramatic license has occurred, but nothing to take away from the very real stories themselves. For my part, I know some of these to be absolutely true. I was there...

Around the world, virtually every weekend, at hotels, colleges, and conventions centers, thousands of people get together to share a wondrous common bond - a love of all things Anime, Comics, Video Games, and Pop Culture.
