Kate Wallinga

Podcasting seemed the logical next step after Kate worked in the fields of

forensic and correctional psychology, and crisis assessment.

Ignorance Was Bliss is a show about how we become who we are and

making just about anything sound normal - from PTSD to podcasting to

serial murder. It is about people's stories.

This podcast is about how we become who we are - about making

just about anything sound normal. Over time, the focus of the show

has widened to include the normal, the average, the ordinary, that

all of us can understand...but we continue to think of ourselves as

somehow messed up, weird, wrong.

We're not.

You're not.

Honest.

Improve 1% Everyday and you Will Be a Better version of You

On the fast track to startup success, a car speeding through a crosswalk jeopardized everything she’d built in a split second.

Constantly battling life-altering trauma, PTSD, a traumatic brain injury, and the cutthroat fashion industry, Just Bones Boardwear founder Jennifer Berk Weisman refused to let the accident define her and steal her identity. She had to do more than reinvent the boardshort. She had to reinvent herself.

Jennifer Weisman

Jennifer Berk Weisman is the owner of Just Bones Boardwear, a swim apparel company featuring her patented adjustable waist design. She never set out to build a fashion empire. But Jennifer realized there was a void in the market for boys' boardshorts during a frustrating shopping excursion. A creative problem solver, she designed innovative boardshorts that offered the “perfect fit” for boys in-between sizes and didn’t fit traditional fixed-waist boardshorts. Soon after, the brand expanded to include swimwear for toddlers, men, and women.

A standout in the swimwear industry, Just Bones Boardwear’s technology won Jennifer two patents and TasteTV’s Best Swimwear of 2016 Award for special functionality. Just Bones Boardwear has been featured in ELLE, InStyle, Vogue, and Fashion Week Online, as well as other major press.

Jennifer’s boardshorts were worn throughout Ghost Shark, an original SyFy movie that premiered in 2013 during Shark Week.

Jennifer was a frustrated mom shopping for swimwear every year for her two sons who were lanky and didn’t fit traditional boardshorts or swim volley shorts. She knew there had to be a better way to make more comfortable fitting swimwear for boys who needed an adjustable waist – not one size fits all at that growing age.

During her interview, she shares her incredible story of survival against terrible circumstances. Then she shows you how your idea can possibly be a million-dollar one :

On her journey from stay-at-home mom to an innovative entrepreneur surviving unexpected adversity, Jennifer conquered every obstacle with a fierce determination to succeed. More than fluff, fabric, and fashion, Sink or Swimwear shares the powerful true story of recovery, hope, and resilience that will inspire you to channel your own inner strength to overcome trauma or chase your entrepreneur dreams.

Have you felt hopeless? Or that your life was beyond your control? Have you dealt with the emotions surrounding those feelings and wondered if things would ever be different?

Do you want to know how to overcome traumas in life that seem overwhelming and realize what you were created to become?

Kimberly Anne Bell holds a degree in human growth and development/psychology and one in theology. Her story is a perfect example of allowing your past to help, rather than hurt, you.  Kimberly never gave up hope even in the direst circumstances.

Abuse

The main factor that helped Kimberly overcome trauma in her life was to accept her past and realize she was created unique, wonderfully made, with flaws, feelings, and emotions, and that I was a gift from above. Just as important I had to accept that I was created to be loved, have abundant life, and achieve God's purpose to be blessed and to be a blessing to others.

During her interview, she shares her physical, mental, and, emotional struggles as well as sexual abuse and childhood abandonment, PTSD and healing from trauma.

Kimberly Bell

The Epitome of Kimmy: Accept and Embrace it All, is an eye-opening memoir that takes you beneath the surface into some of the harshest realities of a child’s life. It is the unfiltered true story of Kimberly Anne Bell, who is faced with a life of abandonment, and sexual and physical abuse from a young age. As you read on, you will sense the trauma and silent pain as well as the divine intervention in her life that allowed her to overcome and be who she is today.

You will be inspired by how life became more precious to live and experience after Kimmy found love, peace, and acceptance within her soul. It is about accepting that which is beyond your control because there is a long road ahead and you still have so much more to look forward to in life.

PTSD is NOT a life sentence. There is a Cure

Cherie Doyen
Cherie Doyen is an author and a lifelong researcher of suffering. She has helped hundreds of people around the world to completely heal from PTSD. The focus of her work is to help those who have struggled through trauma.

On the heels of years of violent childhood trauma including sexual violation, came doctor after doctor, years of therapists and medications. Cherie was dying and no one knew why.

Stress kills people every day. The words of her final psychiatrist were that he could not help her.

Cherie became vigilant to find out why in a tangible and fixable way.  And she did.

PTSD is NOT a life sentence. PTSD can be cured. There is freedom.
