Hold On to the Good and Never Let Go

Lisa Kohn is the author of To The Moon and Back which is a term often associated with love.  But for Lisa, it had a much deeper meaning.  Lisa grew up in the East Village of New York City in the 1970s and in the Unification Church (the Moonies).

Lisa was raised in two conflicting worlds. Her mother's world was the fanatical, puritanical cult of the Moonies.  Her father's world was based on sex and drugs in the East Village of New York City.

In her interview, she shares how she escaped the lifestyle that almost destroyed her. She was anorexic, addicted to cocaine and engaged to an alcoholic. Today she has a successful leadership consulting and coaching practice and is blessed with a happy marriage of over twenty years and two amazing children.

Listen as she shares her amazing transformation, what she learned, and how she offers hope to anyone struggling with self-destruction and esteem issues.

Most of us know someone who has been swept into a world of addiction or poor choices which can be destructive.  You don't want to miss hearing Lisa's story of how she escaped what she calls "brain pickling" instead of brainwashing:

Get Back on the Hope Track - Be Kind to Yourself

Joyce is a recovering gambling addict who lost over $300,000, her home, and her self-respect. Her story is compelling and revealing as she offers help to those who may have a similar problem -- or know someone who does.

In her interview, Joyce shares not only the indicators to determine that there could be a problem but also some solutions.

Joyce states that "Gambling is a global problem.  Depending on the country, it can range from 1 in 500 people in Norway to as high as 1 in 20 people in Hong Kong.  In Canada, the United States, and Australia, one percent of the population are considered to be pathological gamblers and one to two percent as problem gamblers."

Love and Redemption: Overcoming Guilt and Moving On

Maggie Romero
Maggie C. Romero, M.A., taught English as a Second Language in northern Virginia for seventeen years. She and her partner retired from full-time teaching and moved to New Mexico where they have lived since 2009. Maggie is a member of SouthWest Writers, Story Circle Network, based in Austin, Texas, and National Association of Memoir Writers.

Maggie knows the pain of addiction and in this interview will bring awareness to a subject many don't want to discuss.  Yet, it is around us wherever we look.  It can affect any one of us.  Rich or poor, educated or not, it can strike anywhere.

Maggie shares her daughter's story. Before addiction, Angie was a world-class gymnast, a gifted artist and graduated from university with a B.A. in Journalism. But at 21, it all fell apart.

Maggie's purpose in writing her story was to heal from losing her daughter, Angie, to the Living Death of Heroin Addiction. She was determined to save her child from addiction and bankrupted herself in the effort to do so, had a breakdown and was forced into early retirement.
